Minister Pinotti at the Military Penitentiary Organization Command

12/05/15

The Minister of Defense, Roberta Pinotti and the Chief of Staff of the Army, army corps general Danilo Errico, this morning visited the "Ezio Andolfato" Barracks, headquarters of the Military Penitentiary Organization Command and of the Military Prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere in the province of Caserta.

The Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the Army were welcomed by the commander of the Authority, Colonel Raffaele D'ambrosio who, after an illustrative briefing on the main activities carried out by the Prison Organization, accompanied the authorities on a visit to the prison facility and to the various laboratories in which prisoners carry out their daily activities.

The Military Penitentiary Organization, now part of the Armed Forces Summit Organization, represents the only reality of its kind in the whole national and European territory, with inter-force competences and multiple inter-ministerial relations, which performs the very delicate task of ensuring the detention of military personnel and personnel belonging to the Armed State Corps available to the Military and Ordinary Judicial Authorities.

The reason for this particular organic collocation is to be identified in the exceptional and absolute uniqueness of the functions performed by the Organization that can be defined as the top body in the management of penitentiary treatment and of restricted prisoners at the military penitentiary institutes.
