General Graziano visits Slovenia: "excellent level of cooperation"

The Chief of Defense Staff, General Claudio Graziano, on an official visit to Slovenia held talks with the highest political and military leaders.

Accepted on his arrival by the Italian ambassador in Ljubljana, Paolo Trichilo, General Graziano then met the Slovenian general chief of staff Andrej Osterman.

International commitments and projects of future collaboration have been at the center of the talks between the two generals who underlined the high level of cooperation between the armed forces in the different areas of the world where they work together on the ground, from Kosovo to Afghanistan and at sea in the European operation EunavforMed-Sophia.

After the meeting with his Slovenian counterpart, General Graziano had a cordial conversation with the head of the defense commission of the Slovenian parliament, Zan Mahnic and with the defense minister Adreja Katic who underlined the excellent relations between Italy and Slovenia and he said that "friendship is more than cooperation".

In the afternoon, the chief of staff of the defense then visited the "NATO Mountain Warfare Center of Excelence" in Poljče, a multinational structure in which individual nations make their skills and experience available to the Alliance with regard to to combat in a mountain environment.

At the end of the visit, today, General Graziano met with the President of the Republic Borut Pahor with whom he had an exchange of views on the main international issues.
