Division General Claudio Berto at the Cesano Infantry School

Yesterday morning, at the Barracks "s.ten. MOVM Ugo BARTOLOMEI" the headquarters of the Infantry School, the divisional general Claudio Berto, commander for training, specialization and doctrine of the Army.

Welcomed by the commander of the School, Brigadier General Massimo Mingiardi, the high officer immediately after the honors made by the picket at the entrance to the barracks took part in the flag raising ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony, General Berto presented honors to two officers who held high the prestige of the Italian Army in the multinational and international context in Afghanistan.

In particular, he awarded the Army silver cross of merit to Captain Vinicio Restelli, who distinguished himself during the attack suffered by the Italian contingent of the provincial reconstruction unit on May 30, 2011 in Herat and the bronze cross of merit of Army to col. Franco Merlino who, as commander of the "central transition support unit", contributed to increasing the security of the border areas with Iran and Turkmenistan.

Subsequently, General Berto, after addressing to the Institute's military and civilian personnel a special address for the upcoming Christmas festivities, continued the visit of the main structures of the School prepared for the training and training of the military, dwelling in particular at the newly formed Security Force Assistance Center, intended to develop new military capabilities capable of educating and training Italian or partner country personnel on activities related to security and assistance in crisis areas and to contribute to the reform of the defense sector, within the framework of the programs of security sector reform in favor of countries in crisis areas.

Before leaving the Institute, the general greeted the war flag of the Infantry and provided for the signing of the roll of honor.
