US Army General Frederich B. Hodges, commander of the Allied Land Command (Allied Land Forces Command - LANDCOM) of Izmir (Turkey), visited NATO Rapid Deployable Corps-Italy this morning (NRDC-ITA) of Solbiate Olona (VA).

Upon his arrival he was received by the commander of the NRDC-ITA, the army corps general Giorgio Battisti, and after the traditional signing of the Register of Honor, the general officer was able to view the national joint command and control system C2I, which integrates, in the context of an advanced information architecture, the analogous systems used by the individual Armed Forces to allow the operational commander to perfect the control of operations conducted by land, sea and air units.

At the end of the visit, the gen. Hodges expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the command transformation activities, which will allow the NRDC-ITA to assume responsibility for joint land-heavy operations, perfectly in line with the levels of ambition that NATO wishes to achieve.

In particular, the US general appreciated the geographical location, the excellent level of functionality of the infrastructures and the communication systems of which the command of Solbiate has, as well as the solid preparation and the seriousness of the training of the executives.

“Italy - concluded the gen. Hodges - is an important member of the Atlantic Alliance and this command is an example of how the relationships of trust needed during operations are built. When I see an Italian soldier I see a NATO soldier ”.
