The Army Chief of Staff concluded his visit to Pakistan during which he met his general counterpart Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Pakistani Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah and the Chairman of the Heads of State Committee major, general Zubair Mahmood Hayat (photo opening).
The talks, held in a climate of utmost cordiality, allowed us to examine the prospects for a more advanced military collaboration in the field of training and in the fight and prevention of terrorism. On this last topic, the Pakistani authorities thanked our country for the crucial role it has played and continues to support for stabilization and peace in Afghanistan.
The Heavy Industries Taxila, the major engineering conglomerate for the Defense of Pakistan and the National Counter Terrorism Training Center of Excellence were also visited where, attending an exercise, General Errico expressed his appreciation for the level of preparation demonstrated by the Pakistani units exercised.
During his stay, the Chief of Staff of the Army was also received by the President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain, who confirmed the importance of relations between Pakistan and Italy in the field of military cooperation.
Before returning to Italy, General Errico was greeted by the Italian ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, if Stefano Pontecorvo, and the staff of the diplomatic mission at the embassy headquarters in Islamabad.
