The Army Chief of Staff opens the 67 ^ edition of the CaSTA

The Alpine 2015 Skiing Championships started this afternoon with the lighting of the tripod. During the opening ceremony, general Graziano emphasized that "concentration, team spirit, loyalty and tenacity will be the reference values ​​in every moment of the race", interpreting the values ​​that have always inspired the championships, an international competition capable of arouse enthusiasm and strong emotions every year.

"This edition", continued General Graziano, "takes place 100 years after a world conflict that has pitted our nations against each other, today, on the contrary, here the brotherhood between the same countries is cemented in order to that the cohesion and peace achieved with difficulty are maintained ”.

“The mountain plays an important role in training because it accustoms us to endure great difficulties and our men and women must be trained. In the arms profession you can face the risk but never for lack of training and equipment ".

"Your presence here", concluded the Army Chief of Staff, "is a message of fraternity in arms and cohesion in the management of international problems, of the firmness of our nations who want to protect peace and democracy".

An event of the Italian Army that "is not only an opportunity to verify the military technical level reached by the Alpini, but also represents an opportunity for comparison and exchange of experiences and knowledge with Allied countries and friends, essential for collaborating in complex operations abroad ”, confirmed General Federico Bonato, Commander of the Alpine Troops.

To open the competitions, tomorrow morning, will be the competition between the platoons, this year as many as 26, which will compete for three intense days in a tight ski mountaineering movement interspersed with tactical technical tests of shooting with the supplied weapon, launch of accuracy of the inert hand grenade, topography, transport of the wounded on a stretcher and search and rescue of victims of avalanche.
