The exercise "ADIGE 2015" took place on Saturday afternoon near Lana. The activity, coordinated by the police station, in which they took part, in addition to the assets of the armed force that participated with the 4 ° regiment Army aviation "ALTAIR", the civil protection and fire brigade of the province of Bolzano, simulated the flooding of the Adige River in the section at the confluence with the Rio Valsura following heavy and continuous rainfall.
This exercise was an opportunity to verify the methods of coordination and intervention procedures to be implemented in the event of natural disasters under the control of a single operating room responsible for managing all the resources available to the various institutions to guarantee relief to the population and to the protection of strategic infrastructures in the territory.
The armed force participated with enthusiasm believing that the opportunity to be able to train jointly was fundamental, so that its potential was made available in order to guarantee a synergic and efficient management of the emergency, which in real case requires interventions in a short time.
In this context, the 4 ° ALTAIR, which, often called upon to contribute with its own assets to the rescue of mountaineers dispersed in the region, has been called to support the construction of a fast dam through the transport to the helicopter hook of about 10 tons of material that in a short time have been repositioned to restore the banks of the river. In addition, it was possible to verify the logistical support capacities for the operations of the Regiment which deployed a tactical command post capable of managing the assets merged into the intervention area, an advanced refueling point necessary to give continuity to the operation in the eventuality that this, as in the case hypothesized by the scenario, was at a considerable distance from the starting point.
