The 2nd Pontieri Engineers Regiment intervenes in Piacenza for the bad weather emergency

Last night around the 23.30, at the request of the prefecture of Piacenza, the Army with twenty-five soldiers of the 2 ° egg Genio Pontieri intervened in the locality of Roncaglia in Valnure in a hamlet in the municipality of Piacenza, to remove debris, mud and water.

The Army still at work is intervening with special means including 2 heavy dump trucks, 1 large capacity loader, two motor pumps, a truck with lighting tower.

The commitment of the military will continue throughout the day until the complete restoration of normality.

H17.00 update:

The Army with the soldiers of the 2nd Pontieri Engineer Regiment is still at work in Roncaglia, a hamlet in the municipality of Piacenza, to help the populations hit by yesterday's violent storm.

The engineers of the 2nd regiment who intervened at the request of the prefecture of Piacenza, have been at work since last night in coordination and jointly with the other bodies of the State which are currently working to find two missing persons and to improve conditions of viability and life of citizens. 

After the first interventions carried out last night along the "Caorsana" road and in other adjoining roads to free them from the debris that had invaded it, this morning the army soldiers with the help of motor pumps emptied the cellars and the garages of some dwellings along the “Alla scuola” and “Voltone” streets of Roncaglia. 

In particular, in the afternoon, debris is being removed from some industrial and commercial warehouses, so that they can soon resume their activities. 

In the evening, the Army will proceed with the emptying of other cellars and garages of the houses along the “Caorsana” road and the works will continue tomorrow.
