In the training area of Foce Verde (LT), an exercise in the use of short and very short range anti-aircraft artillery assets was completed in recent days. The activity involved the use of the Skyguard and Stinger weapon systems, of the SHORAD and VSHORAD groups of the 17th "Sforzesca" regiment.
In the three operative weeks, the training lasted so long, the planning and conduct of a deployment operation of a tactical anti-aircraft group used to support an operational unit on the ground was carried out. The exercise made it possible to verify the level reached by the airborne units, with particular reference to use in the night environment.
Since the initial planning phase, the "Sforzesca" staff has been joined by staff from the "Serenissima" lagoon regiment and from the Command of the Landing Forces. Moreover, the participation of units of the 3 regiment helicopter special operations "Aldebaran" allowed the personnel exercised the possibility to carry out "fast rope" and "rapelling" techniques from HH412A helicopters.
This synergy between various components, even of other armed forces, represents the high level of integration achieved within the framework of the National Projection Screening Capacity and confirms the evolution of the anti-aircraft specialty as a flexible and versatile tool.
