The presentation of the program for the celebrations of the Bicentenary of the establishment of the Italian Army Cavalry School took place today at the "Open Space" multipurpose hall in Lecce.
Among the events scheduled to "remember the fatigue, in the dust and sweat, of the men and quadrupeds, as well as the exploits of the Knights", as explained by the commander of the Cavalry School, Brigadier General Claudio Dei, there will be the " Bicentennial Cavalcade”. The journey of two squadrons (4 pairs on horseback) along two itineraries: one from Venaria Reale (TO), the first headquarters of the Institute, the other from Lecce, the current headquarters, which will converge in Rome, where it will have its epilogue.
Along the two routes, six symbolic cities have been identified (Venaria Reale, Modena, Siena, Lecce, Barletta and Caserta) in which a flag-raising ceremony will take place and the delivery of the Tricolor to the city authorities by the mounted squadron, a initiative with which to exalt the founding values and virtues of the Chivalry and the Army, tackling an epic undertaking.
The influx of the two squadrons into the picturesque square of Siena, in Rome on 27 October, will be the culmination of the 200th anniversary of the School of Cavalry.
