At the "Duca" barracks, headquarters of the 85th volunteer training regiment (RAV) "Verona", 370 volunteers (344 men and 26 women) on initial duty (VFI) of the Italian Army, belonging to the 2nd block 2023, took the oath loyalty to the Italian Republic.
In front of the regiment's War Flag, the volunteers took a solemn oath by pronouncing the traditional formula of "I swear" and singing the Mameli Hymn in unison, performed by the brigade's fanfare Pozzuolo del Friuli. The ceremony, presided over by the commander of the Infantry School, Brigadier General Eugenio Dessì, was attended by local civil, military and religious authorities and the relatives of the jurands.
“Be proud of the choice you have made, which is based on the noble feelings of this new identity, symbolically represented by the stars, the emblem of all soldiers. Keep it jealously together with the memory of this day, in your hearts and minds.", were the words of General Dessì addressed to the young soldiers of the 2nd block 2023.
The regimental commander, Colonel Nicola Castello, greeted the jurands by saying: “You are the future of our Italy and our Armed Forces, so always respect the promise you are about to express, remember to dress your uniform with honor and love, respect, pride and passion, because only in this way will you demonstrate that choice you made will have been the best of your life."
The Volunteers of the 2nd block 2023, in February 2024, will leave the city of Verona to reach the various units of the Armed Forces, located throughout the national territory.
