The Army bomb squad intervenes in Ortona

At the request of the Chieti Prefecture the Army bomb squads and a team from the NBC Interforce Technical Logistics Center (CETLI) of Civitavecchia will provide for the disarming and neutralization of 4 mortar bombs with allegedly special English-made loading dating back to the Second World War , occasionally found during work on agricultural land in the territory of Ortona (CH). 

Ortona located in the extreme western point of the "Gustav line"and made famous for the battle of the same name fought in 1943 between the allies and the Germans and for which the town was decorated with a Gold Medal for Civil Valor.

This morning in the Marrollo quarry, near Fossacesia (CH), the excavation and site preparation operations have been started by the bomb technicians of the army of the 11th genius regiment of Foggia, where futurethe 4 English mortar bombs will be shined.

To ensure an adequate security framework for the intervention, the Prefecture of Chieti has established, with a specific ordinance, the prohibition of flying over the area, the interruption of the local road system and the evacuation of about 145 people for a radius of 800 meters .

In particular, the traffic closure ordinances will concern the roads listed below: 

SS 16 entry ramp on the SS 652 from the south direction; SS16 entrance ramp SS 652 from north direction; SP Pedemontana from SS 16 crossing the railway station entrance; SS 652 Km.82 + 300 direction sea junction via Scata; roundabout SP Pedemontana, SP for the Sangro height Colle Cannizza location; SP roundabout for the Sangro with SP Mediana; Via Fonte Antoni crossing Via Piantonata; via Piantonata crossing via Colle Pacorai, via Passo Nicola, via Fonte Antoni crossing via Fonte del Fico; i via Pedemontana crossing via Fonte del Fico; via Fonte del Fico crossing via Paine.
