The Alpini on the Cima Grande di Lavaredo

26/06/15

The summit, which with its 2.999 meters high is the highest of the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo, was reached from the south-east side along the "Normale" road; when they reach the summit, the Alpini have lit some smoke bombs, drawing a suggestive Tricolor in the sky.

At the same time the mountain troops of the 6 regiment of Brunico climbed to the summit of Monte Paterno, following an exciting itinerary that crossed the tunnels dug into the belly of the mountain by Italian soldiers during the 1 World War to reach the summit, sheltered from fire.

The two ascents were conducted by the Alpine troops in preparation for the "5Torri 2015" exercise, which the next 9 July will see the Alpine troops engaged in the wall with colleagues from foreign armies and other national Armed Forces in an exciting demonstration of those that they are their abilities and skills in working in the mountains.

The exercise will involve the Alpine troops of the Julia and Taurinense Brigades and the mountaineering instructors of the Alta Montagna Group of the Alpine Training Center who have recently opened a new route on Mount Illimani, in Bolivia, to over 6.000 meters of altitude.
