This morning three hundred and sixty-eight soldiers, patrons of the basic course for Volunteers in fixed farm of one year of the 2 ° 2016 call, they took an oath of loyalty to the Italian Republic in the "Emidio Clementi" barracks, headquarters of the 235 "Piceno" regiment.
In the presence of the regiment's war flag, decorated by Cross of the Military Order of Italy need Silver Medal for Military Valor and in the presence of the commander of Volunteer Training Center of Capua, brigadier general Giuseppe Faraglia, of the highest military, civil and religious authorities of the Marche Region, the volunteers shouted "Lo Giuro!", to the tune of the Hymn of Mameli, with the accompaniment of the military band of the mechanized brigade " Pinerolo ".
During his speech, Colonel Marco Zona, commander of the 235th "Piceno" regiment, speaking directly to the soldiers said "with the oath you will consciously recognize the great responsibility of wearing the uniform and the military identity it contains, understood as status ethical and juridical in which the codified rules of fundamental military principles and military discipline converge ". Furthermore, "sacrifice, fatigue and the cult of physical fitness are an integral part of our daily training and must constitute the distinctive trait of every soldier who, combined with discipline, motivation and professionalism, represent the only tools to prepare the body and mind to support the conditions of hardship that a true soldier is called to face on a daily basis ".
Brigadier General Faraglia, in his speech, stressed that "the oath is an important and fundamental gesture, which should not become customary, but a conscious choice to assume responsibility, commitment and honor as individuals, as citizens and as soldiers". And he concluded by saying "I wish you to be able to find the ideals you are looking for, to live the expectations you are pursuing, to collect the teachings we can offer you and to treasure them for your life as men and women, citizens and soldiers".
At the end of the ceremony some paratroopers of the fifth regional group, to which the local section of theNational Paratroopers Association of Italy, landed in the Piazza d'Armi of the 235th "Piceno" regiment, launching themselves from a height of about 2000 meters with the free fall technique, receiving great admiration from the large audience present and receiving the applause of General Faraglia and Colonel Zona, both belonging to the Amaranth Basque specialty.
I Volunteers in fixed farm of the 2nd call 2016, formally acquired the status of soldier, will remain in the City of the Hundred Towers until the next 8 September to complete the course for basic training.
