The students of the Nunziatella swear

Yesterday morning, in Piazza del Plebiscito, in the presence of the Minister of Defense Roberta Pinotti and the Chief of Staff of the Army, General Claudio Graziano the ceremony of the 227 anniversary of the foundation of the military school "Nunziatella" of the army and the oath of allegiance to the Italian republic of the students of the 227 ° course.

In the symbolic square of Naples, the Minister of Defense underlined the need, for defense and for the country, of trained people who know how to help build those conditions of freedom, security and solidarity that are indispensable for any prospect of social development and prosperity shared, inside and outside the European dimension.

The chief of staff of the army, after having addressed a dutiful thought to the fallen and wounded in the operation, thanked the civil and religious authorities who intervened. During his speech, General Graziano, addressing the students, said: you, with your enthusiasm, are Italy, you are the future of our country.

The army - underlined General Graziano during his speech - will continue to invest in education and training which is a key sector for the armed force.

The army chief of staff expressed his closeness to the relatives of the two Alpine soldiers who died on the Gran Sasso, while yesterday, free from the service and driven by a passion for the mountains, they were intent on making an excursion.

Subsequently the defense minister Roberta Pinotti, the interior minister Angelino Alfano, the mayor Luigi de Magistris and the director of the state property agency Roberto Reggi signed a memorandum of understanding for the stipulation of an exchange between the State and the municipality of Naples aimed at the expansion and strengthening of the buildings in use at the military school "Nunziatella" of the army and the IV mobile department of the state police. 

This exchange aims to rationalize the use of state assets and the optimal allocation of the peripheral offices of the State administration, favoring the reduction of passive costs.

The students of the Nunziatella attend the three years of higher studies of the classical or scientific high school and acquire a solid preparation aimed at accessing military academies or university courses in civil life. At the end of the three years of training at the Institute, each student decides which course of study to undertake and is also facilitated by military and university orientation lessons, in collaboration with the main Italian universities.
