Addressing the students, General Errico recalled that "the oath is a moment of the highest spiritual value as it coincides with the most solemn act for the life of a soldier and seals a choice of ideals that are not common today. I urge you - continued the Army Chief of Staff - to face this professional path with dedication, tenacity and pride, with the awareness of having undertaken a busy life but which will give you great satisfaction ".

Referring to the word "Courage", chosen as the name of the course, General Errico recalled that "courage is a virtue that manifests itself in everyday life, with all those behaviors that call for seriousness, professionalism, altruism and loyalty, on which the spirit that sustains valiant men in moments of greatest danger is founded ".

The 17 ° "Courage" course was named after the Gold Medal to the Military Marshal Valor Sinibaldo Vellei who died in the fight upstream Sei Busi in the 1915.

The motivation of the gold medal was read by the head caporal chief Andrea Adorno, an example of courage and in turn awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valor because in Afghanistan, during a gun battle, despite being wounded he continued to fight saving the lives of his comrades who risked being overwhelmed.

The Army NCO School that this year celebrates the 50 anniversary of its establishment in Viterbo, forms the non-commissioned officers of the Armed Forces providing them with the basis of military culture to become motivated, responsible soldiers, capable of facing with determination and commitment the challenges of the military profession.
