Oath to the 235th "Piceno"

30/01/15

At the 235 headquarters, Rav Piceno, "E. Clementi" Barracks, four hundred and seventy one-year volunteers in fixed stops belonging to the 4 Block 2014, took an oath of allegiance to the Italian Republic, in the presence of the War Flag, decorated with the Cross of Military Order of Italy and Silver Medal for Military Valor and Regiment Commander, Colonel Aniello Santonicola.

In the presence of the commander of the Training Unit Group, Brigadier General Gabriele Toscani De Col and the highest local military, civil and religious authorities, the volunteers shouted "Lo Giuro" in unison.

The 4 block 2014 is named in memory of Captain Pietro Verri, decorated with the Gold Medal for Military Valor, for the admirable example of heroic boldness demonstrated during the war in Africa. On the morning of 26 October 1911, being in the positions of Henni (Tripoli), manned by a company of sailors, he himself wanted to lead those valiant to the counterattack, remaining killed in the fight struck in the head and chest.

The volunteers of the 4 block 2014, who arrived in Ascoli Piceno last December 4, will complete the ten-week basic training period, at the end of which, in the month of March, they will be transferred to bodies and departments of the armed force for the completion of the standstill period.
