(To Army Majority State)
12/11/23

In Day of remembrance of the fallen soldiers and civilians in international peace missions the Chief of Staff of the Army, Army Corps General Pietro Serino, met the families of the fallen who sacrificed their lives in the fulfillment of their duty so that the memory, a precious heritage of all citizens and, above all, of the new generations, always keep alive the collective conscience on the roots and on the national identity.

General Serino wanted to underline that “Today I am the one who thanks all of you because your presence here is the opportunity to tell Italians what your relatives and relatives have done for all of us. Thank you!".

In the morning, General Serino also took part in the initiatives prepared by the Defense: starting from the commemorations to War Memorial of Schuster Park, we continued with the laying of a laurel wreath at the Shrine of the Unknown Soldier by the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Cavo Dragone and the leaders of the other Armed Forces and , subsequently, with the holy mass celebrated by the military ordinary for Italy, Msgr. Santo Marcianò at the Basilica of S. Maria in Ara Coeli.

The “Day of remembrance of the military and civilian fallen in international peacekeeping missions” was established with Law no. 12 of 2009 November 162, coinciding with the anniversary of the Nasiriyah attack, in which 19 compatriots lost their lives.
