"The sixteenth course for sniper instructor has just ended at the Cesano Infantry School, after two intense weeks of training. The instructor staff belonging to the Weapons and Shooting Department of the Institute transmitted to the visitors coming from the Brigades of the Land Operational Forces already in possession of the qualification of marksman, the necessary knowledge to fulfill the role of Instructor.
The training experience gained over the years by the staff of the Infantry School associated with the knowledge acquired from the use of sniper cores in the various Operating Theaters has made it possible to draw up specific training programs, of about 100 hours - both in the classroom and on the ground - aimed at capacitive increase of this peculiar component of the Armed Force.
In the last ten years the Army has faced numerous operational commitments in Italy and abroad, always characterized by a greater presence of hostile elements able to use different techniques and methods of struggle (guerrilla, terrorism) in a combined way.
For this reason, the snipers of the Armed Force have been engaged with increasing frequency, allowing the use of highly specialized and trained personnel capable of intervening by minimizing the risks of involvement for the civilian population, the so-called "Collateral damage".
The Commander of the Infantry School, Brigadier General Massimo Mingiardi, during the delivery of the certificates congratulated the course goers for the demonstrated commitment and the excellent results achieved, emphasizing once again the importance of the training activity carried out at the Institute.
The Infantry School is responsible for the basic preparation of all military personnel in the Armed Forces. It competes in the formation of Officers, Official Students and Marshals, and carries out specialization courses for the positions of the Infantry Weapon. Moreover, it carries out courses for instructors with high operational value and for special needs the Institute organizes and conducts courses for foreign personnel or belonging to another Armed Forces."
