Army still in action in Calabria for the 2023 Forest Fire Fighting Campaign

​Yesterday afternoon an HH 412 helicopter of the 2nd Army Aviation Regiment took off from Lamezia Terme directed to the hamlet of Cocozzelo in the municipality of Luzzi (CS) to put out a fire that broke out after noon.

The Army helicopter here unloaded over 1400 liters of water managing to put out the fire with 2 sorties.

Immediately afterwards, the intervention continued on the hamlet of Pucchio, where an even more dangerous fire broke out with the flames devouring scrub and shrubs near the town of Acri.

In this area the action of the Army was more prolonged with about 4900 liters of water dropped from the sky in 7 sorties which made it possible to contain the fire.

The competition operation ended in the evening after 20.00. The Army participates with the other Armed Forces in the Forest Firefighting Campaign of Defense. A collaboration that has already been in place for years with the National Corps of Firefighters and Civil Protection (PROCIV) to make the fight against forest fires more effective and incisive.
