Combined impact exercise in Monte Romano

In recent days, the "Granatieri di Sardegna" brigade has conducted the LIVEX exercise (Monte) in the Monte Romano range (VT)Live Exercise) called "Combined Impact". The week included various firefighting activities including: a school for shooting heavy mortars at the platoon level and a counter-tank shooting school for grenadiers; an exercise on fire at the platoon level, heavy and daytime and nighttime, for the Lancieri di Montebello.

The training moment reached its peak during the carrying out of a coordinated fire activity that saw the joint use, in rapid succession, of heavy "Centauro" busses, wire-guided missiles (MILAN) and 120 mm mortars (THOMSON) .

The tactical actions carried out were developed through: a first phase of "dynamic contrast" carried out by the counter-tank component and the heavy bushing platoon and a subsequent phase of local counterattack (dynamic reaction), carried out by the mortar platoon.

The commander of the brigade, gen. b. Gaetano Lunardo, followed all the activities on fire from the "Casal Nuovo" observatory, where he expressed his deep satisfaction for the work of the cadres and soldiers of the 1st rgt. Grenadiers of Sardinia and the rgt. "Montebello" Lancers (8th) who demonstrated effective and effective management, coordination and synchronization of all fire delivery systems in the field.

The multi-weapon complex intervened on specific targets materialized in the area of ​​Poggio Agnello, denoting a wide capacity to support fire adhering to the maneuver, as is expressly requested in the case of operations conducted in "hostile" territory. 

 The "Granatieri di Sardegna" brigade is at the same time the leader of the group that conducts the "Safe Roads" operation in Rome, in Lazio and in the neighboring regions of Umbria and Abruzzo with about military 2.500 of which a substantial rate is in competition from other units of the armed force belonging to the weapons and to the specialties of the infantry (bersaglieri, paracadutisti, alpini, lagoonari), of the cavalry, of the artillery and of the genius.
