In the broad framework of the preparation and training activities, the 3rd Alpine Regiment organized and conducted the "Edelweiss" exercise (15-19 May) which saw the arrival of the nuclei at the Pian dell'Alpe (TO) range. Selected shooters (TS) of the "SUSA" Alpine Battalion of the "Taurinense" Alpine Brigade and of the 5th, 7th and 8th Alpine Regiment of the "Julia" Alpine Brigade.
The already highly qualified staff conducted an initial amalgam phase characterized by the ascent by ferrata to the Sacra di San Michele (TO) and by the conduct of daytime and night-time maintenance shots from maximum distances with the various weapons supplied. Subsequently, the Selected Shooters were infiltrated in the area of Pian dell'Alpe with three helicopters of the 34th "Toro" regiment of Venaria with the technique of Fast Rope.
In the exercise area they operated Opposing Forces of the "Susa" Alpine Battalion which, by practicing in the area interdiction, made the activity realistic and consistent.
The final focus activity, preceded by a double abseil from a wall, saw the different nuclei operate under stress, in emergency conditions and engage targets using makeshift shelters.
In the office of debriefing final was highlighted the important training return derived from the conduct of activities in such a challenging scenario.
