The CBRN exercise "White Poison 2024" concluded in recent days, which involved various defense units under the direction of the 7th CBRN defense regiment "Cremona", a specialist unit of the Army, as well as enablers strategic defense in the specific sector which, from 1 January 2025, will take over lead of NATO Combined Joint CBRN Defense Task Force (CJ-CBRND-TF).
The exercise, conducted simultaneously in various training areas and ranges in Lazio, was aimed at testing the ability of specialist assets to counter unconventional events in diversified operational contexts, in order to guarantee an adequate and rapid response to the growing complexity of the threat Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear.
Under the leadership of Colonel Marco Baleani, the men and women of the 7th "CBRN" regiment, possessing high technical-scientific skills and technologically advanced equipment, operated together with the personnel of the tactical information brigade, the artillery command, the 11th transmission regiment and other defense assets, training to deal with a crisis scenario through the use of technical-tactical procedures aimed at preventing a CBRN event, as well as conducting forensic sampling activities and technical exploitation.
“White Poison 2024” represented the first field training exercise as part of the process that will lead to assuming the lead of NATO's CJ-CBRND-TF, a high-readiness multinational and joint-force structure, designed to respond quickly in crisis situations and dedicated to countering new global challenges in the CBRN defense sector.
