For the young athlete of the Army Sports Center, in fact, thanks to the second place achieved in yesterday's stage behind the Olympic bronze mountain biker Marco Aurelio Fontana and in front of his teammate, the first caporal major Marco Ponta, the 2014 edition of the Giro of Italy of cyclocross it closed brilliantly in absolute first position.
The victory, obtained in any case with a test of advance, materialized after having achieved in the four previous stages, two first places, respectively in the 1 ^ stage of Fiuggi (RM) and in the 2 ^ of Portoferraio (LI), two second places , in the 4 ^ stage of Silvelle di Trebaseleghe (PD) and in the 5 ^ of Rome and a third place in Rossano Veneto (VI) in the 3 ^ stage.
The podium won by the long distance specialist, Daniele Meucci, is significant.
On the 10 km of "Campaccio" race, we remember being valid as 1 stage of the "Permit IAAF" international circuit, the 28-year-old Pisan athlete, after having fought for over two thirds of the race on equal terms in the leading trio, nothing he was able to counteract the sudden acceleration imposed by opponents at the end of the race, closing the race in third place with the time of 29'33 behind the winner of the race, the American Dathan Ritzenhein (29'08 ") and the second classified, Daniele Lalli (29'09 ").
