Two army caporali of the ski mountaineering world champions

11/02/15

The Verbier Ski Mountaineering World Championships (SUI) continue unabated and, at the same time, the athletes of the Winter Sports Section of the Army Sports Center.

Today saw the spectacular race in pairs take place where five Alpini riders were involved: the major corporal chosen Matteo Eydallin (photo at the bottom) in the team with the 1 ° caporal Major VFP4 Damiano Lenzi (photo opening and right), the caporal major Robert Antonioli in the team with corporal Michele Boscacci and the chief corporal chosen Manfred Reichegger in the team with Valtellina Lorenzo Holzknecht.

The rhythm is immediately dictated by Eydallin and Lenzi, a couple now well-honored and winner last year of the Grande Course circuit, followed by the French team Gachet-Bon Mardion and the other two Alpini Antonioli-Boscacci.

During the race Manfred Reichegger breaks a boot and, thus, is forced to retire. But in front of Eydallin and Lenzi they are really unreachable, they always race together and cut the final goal with arms raised, going to win the gold medal.

Too bad for Robert Antonioli and Michele Boscacci who, after facing the last brow in 2 ^ position, downhill are overtaken by the French team and have to settle for the bronze medal.

With today's race, the number of medals won by the Alpini in these World Championships is now up: 2 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes.

For Eydallin it is the second medal after that of the individual, while for Antonioli with today's bronze he becomes the most medalized in this world championship (3 medals).

Tomorrow the closing with the relay race.
