At the request of the Terni prefecture, the Army bomb squads provided for the disarming and blasting of an American airplane bomb dating back to the Second World War by 1000 lbs (approximately 440 kg); the reclamation operations were carried out by the bomb technicians of the 6 ° pioneering genius regiment of Rome. The device found in "I Renari" in the municipality of Giove (TR), a few hundred meters from the A1 motorway and the railway line, was first deactivated, transported and made to shine in a quarry in the town of Narni (TR ).

The operations, coordinated by the prefecture of Terni, started at 08.30 with the complete evacuation of the entire population falling within 1900 m from the discovery point of the device. For the disengagement the A1 motorway was closed to traffic from 10.45 to 13.30 in both directions of travel between the Orvieto and Orte toll gates. Furthermore, the blocking of railway traffic on the Rome-Florence high-speed line and on the slow Rome-Chiusi regional line was ordered; the disengagement resulted in the prohibition of overflight.

After the evacuation operation of the residents, the bomb technicians removed and destroyed the fuses.
Subsequently, the device was safely transported to a quarry in San Pellegrino where it was made to shine.
At 16.02 the operation was concluded, which saw the perfect synergy between the Army, the prefecture, the police forces and the town of Jupiter, thus ensuring maximum safety for the residents and bringing the least inconvenience to travelers .
