Constitution of the command of the special forces of the army

The ceremony for the establishment of the command for special army forces was held today in the "Gamerra" barracks in Pisa, site of the parachuting training center.

The ceremony was attended by the general secretary / national director of armaments, general of the army corps Enzo Stefanini, the army chief of staff, army corps general Claudio Graziano and numerous civil and military authorities.

During the ceremony, the chief of staff of the army awarded the silver medal to the valor of the army to Lieutenant Leonardo Piga and Sergeant Mario Perri of the 9th "Col Moschin" regiment and awarded personnel particularly distinguished in the international arena and national.

General Graziano, on the sidelines of the ceremony, responding to representatives of the press about the importance of setting up the new army special forces command declared "at this time of transformation of the armed force, the constitution of this new command takes place for reasons economic, for the change of the international scenarios and to guarantee a greater efficacy of the forces ", he continued underlining" this command, unique for the training and the preparation of the special forces and the forces for special operations, is a strategic choice that allows to Italy to better prepare a component that has proved to be fundamental in all international missions ". Finally, the Chief of Staff concluded "the importance of COMFOSE will be further enhanced through greater and closer collaboration with conventional national and international forces".

The COMFOSE (Army Special Forces Command), was set up to rationalize and optimize the special needs of the armed force units with a strong specialization to be used in tasks of high strategic value and at short notice.

The COMFOSE employs the 9 assault regiment "Col Moschin", the 185 regiment acquisition target and from 1 July the 28 operational communications regulator "Pavia" and the 4 alpine regiment parachute.

The new command of the special forces of the army has the task of coordinating the needs of the dependent departments in matters of recruitment and training, organizing the training, researching and identifying the peculiar materials for the performance of the assigned tasks.
