Convention in the centenary of the Artillery Counter-aircraft

Today, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Army, army corps general Danilo Errico, and the commander of the Land Operative Forces, general of corps Alberto Primicerj, the two-day event organized for the centenary of the establishment of the Anti-aircraft Artillery.

Commander of the Artillery Controaerei, General of Brigade Carlo Zontilli, yesterday inaugurated the work with the conference on "Artillery Counter-terrorism, used in modern operational scenarios and future prospects" to which were attended by qualified Italian Army lecturers, military defense workers of friends and allies and of the Italian defense industry.

Later, in the evening, the Banda of the Artillery Controaerei performed in a concert with a repertoire of military pieces commemorating the First World War and contemporary music.

The SME chief in his speech stressed - "the aircraft was the protagonist of a continuous technological development and subsequent transformations and today has avant-garde armaments and highly qualified personnel" and then concluded "this niche of excellence must be safeguarded because it contributes to the integrated defense of national and NATO airspace, as well as representing a crucial capacity, in the light of new international contexts ".

The event was continued today with a demonstration, in the training areas of the municipality of Sabaudia, of the operational capabilities that the specialty is able to express.

The soldiers of the 17 Sforzesca regiment, a department that contributes to the national capacity of projection from the sea, have given life to a series of tactical acts inserted within the framework of an amphibious landing using also AB412, CH47 and 129AW helicopters of the Aviation of the 'Army.

Subsequently, in the training areas, the civil and military authorities visited a static exhibition of the main counter-aircraft weapon systems, vehicles and command posts supplied and of possible future acquisition.

At the conclusion of the activity, the Chief of Staff of the Army, in the palace of the municipality of Sabaudia, together with the first citizen, dr. Maurizio Lucci, has inaugurated a commemorative plaque for the centenary of the establishment of the first Department of Artillery Counter-aircraft of Captain Augusto de Pignier, which took place in Neptune the 10 January 1915.

The command of artillery counter-aircraft, with its men and women, is now engaged on the national territory with over 200 soldiers in the operation "Safe Roads".
