In the permanent range of Monte Romano (VT), another phase of the SIAT program (Integrated System for Terrestrial Training) ended, a project of the Italian Army aimed at the evolution of military training in different operational contexts .

The SIAT program aims to simulate the use of units, a live system and a system Interactive able to reproduce the conduct of operations in an artificial scenario based on the environment and the training objective to be achieved.
Particular attention is also paid to the training of the staff in the operational command and control function on the dependent units (system constructive) in tactical situations that can develop during the simulation.

In this context, a minor complex of the 1 regiment "Granatieri di Sardegna" operated as an opposing force (OPFOR), within the live system, against a reinforced minor complex of the 183 parachute regiment "Nembo", in both daytime than night, for a week. The purpose of the activity was to increase the personnel skills in the application of techniques and procedures related to a high intensity scenario or in any case in a non-permissive environment, replicating on the ground the main scenarios and operational activities that were found in the employment outside the area.

The exercise was divided into three phases, from an initial trial (rehearsal), preparation of vehicles and deployed materials, we moved to a central phase of live activity with the troops on the ground, arriving at a final folding ( redeployment) and reconditioning of men, means and materials.

The SIAT project aims, within the next few years, to offer a training tool adhering to the multiple operational contexts in which the Italian Army soldiers operate, both nationally and internationally.
