European Military Press Association Congress: first prize awarded to Military Review of the Italian Army

At the 43rd congress of theEuropean Military Press Association (EMPA) in Zurich, the first prize for the best photograph published in European military newspapers and magazines was assigned to “Rivista Militare”, with a photo of the Army adjutant Marco Valentino.

The photo, taken during the "Salamandra 2022" exercise, which engaged the engineering departments of the Southern Operational Forces command in training, was published in issue 3 of 2022 of the magazine as part of the "Photo copyright" photo contest.

This year's congress brings together around 30 editors-in-chief and editors, media professionals and photographers from over 10 European countries and is divided into specialized seminars, industry visits (General Dynamics European Land Systems) and exercises (Swiss Army Exhibition Connected).

In 1977, on the initiative of General Dionisio Sepielli, pro tempore director of Rivista Militare, some heads of the main European military magazines of the time met in Rome to discuss the main issues of common interest. Out of the success of that meeting, EMPA was born.

Today it is open to all editors and journalists of European periodicals in the security and defense sector.

Among the aims of the association, the promotion of knowledge of the Armed Forces and the security policies of the member countries, to be achieved through the facilitation of the exchange of information (in particular, articles published in each periodical) and the organization of common events for spread a European defense culture.
