23/03/16

The eighth seminar on the evolution of the doctrine of the Infantry Weapon has just ended at the Infantry School of Cesano (RM).

Officials from the General Staff of the Army, schools and training institutes, and the operational and logistic component of the Armed Forces took part in this training event.

The army corps general Giorgio Battisti, commander for Army Training, Specialization and Doctrine, formally started the conference with an opening address on the afternoon of Monday 21 March. The main topics of the symposium were presented on the first day of work. Specifically, the adherence of the doctrine and procedures for the use of infantry units in the new operational scenarios was discussed. Moreover, all aspects concerning the future individual endowments of the soldiers on the ground were examined: ergonomics, weight, bulk and technological innovation.

On the second day of work, all the defense companies present at the event set up stands where they exhibited experimental vehicles, materials and weapons. Furthermore, all the personnel witnessed a tactical activity carried out with the aid of the simulation systems supplied to the Armed Forces.

On the final day, the forum presented the results of the study of the topics presented during the first day. In particular, the adherence of the doctrine to the new operational scenarios was confirmed, but at the same time the need emerged to continue the development of the principles that regulate the use of the military instrument so that the Armed Force can always be able to counter any type of threat especially in the case of employment in asymmetric conflicts characterized by the presence of a hybrid threat.

The international presence was assured by 22 military attachments from NATO, Middle Eastern and Asian countries.

The results of the seminar will be taken into consideration in the planning and carrying out of the 32 courses that are held annually at the Institute, to name a few: course shooter chosen (sniper), crowd control course, selected patrol course and so on.

In particular, at the MOVM s.ten barracks. Ugo Bartolomei, home of the School, about 4000 soldiers are trained annually, both from the twenty-four Army infantry regiments and from the departments of other Armed Forces. Moreover, for particular needs the School can organize and conduct courses for foreign personnel.

The Infantry School, commanded by Brigadier General Massimo Mingiardi, is the Institute responsible for the basic preparation of the military of the Armed Forces, the specialization for the positions of the infantry and the performance of courses for instructors with a high operational value. For this reason, the School hosted the Infantry seminar, conceived and developed by the Army Training, Specialization and Doctrine Command.
