23/10/14

Last October 10, at the Monte Romano shooting range, ended the "Veltro 2014" exercise conducted by the 183 parachute regiment "Nembo" of Pistoia.

The training, conducted in the context of validation related to the inclusion of the unit in the JRRF (Joint Reaction Rapid Force) package for the year 2015, saw the unit engaged in a supposedly potentially hostile scenario.

This requirement required the use of all the weapons supplied, including 120 mm mortars. and the "Milan" anti-tank systems.

To note the fruitful collaboration with the Guidonia aerocooperation school, which made it possible to operate with the so-called "third dimension": a support to the maneuver of vital importance for the development of the subsequent airborne operation and the deployment on the ground which lasted for about fifty-four hours.

The mission of the 183 regiment, typical of aviotruppe, has started from the aavolancio of a force composed from the exploring component and from the following group of assault that have guaranteed the security of the area.

A subsequent rate of paratroopers, embarked on multi-role helicopters, has instead provided for the creation of an advanced tactical command post having, among others, the task of guaranteeing digital and satellite connections to higher-level controls and employees on the ground. Fundamental for the development of the training activity, the support of the crews of the 1 ° AVES "Antares" regiment of Viterbo on vectors CH-47 and AB-412, and of the 11 ° regiment transmissions "Leonessa" of Civitavecchia who took part in the exercise with technical materials and specialists.

In summary, a training context adhering to the possible employment scenarios from which the 183 ° "Nembo", thanks to the meticulous planning and all-round collaboration with the numerous assets deployed on the ground, has obtained valuable indications useful for the development and conduct of future activities.
