The “Zeus 2022” training activity of the 28th “Pavia” operational communications regiment was completed in recent days.
The week-long exercise, held in Cervia in the “Site 15” training area, saw the three specialist companies of the 1st “Operational Communications” battalion confront themselves with a simulated crisis scenario. Objective: to implement all the communication practices essential in managing a difficult situation through the implementation of a Psyops plan. An opportunity to involve recently qualified personnel as "Operational Communications Specialist".
In particular, the tactical assets deployed by the two companies - "Production Media TV / Radio" and "Production Media Press and Internet" - conceived, created and broadcast mass-media communication products to persuade some segments of the local population to desist from the use of violent. At the same time, staff of the company "Dissemination" measured themselves with the technique of assertive communication interacting with some local leaders of the area and with the diffusion of audio messages transmitted via loudspeaker and away airdrop leaflets (aviolancio flyantini), supported by the AB205 of the 2nd AVES “Orione” support regiment of Bologna.
These abilities had as their prologue a path of deductive analysis: from the study of the area of operation in a historical, cultural, social and psychological key, the profile of the Target audience, describing their attitudes, values, beliefs, traditions and habits, thus identifying the elements necessary for the realization of effective messages.
A satellite team was also used in the exercise to ensure the connection between the deployed assets and the permanent headquarters in Pesaro, through the “reachback” function.
The 28th “Pavia” regiment is the department of the Armed Forces that uses the potential of communication as a fundamental tool for acquiring and maintaining the consent of the populations present in the various areas of operations outside the national territory in which the Army operates.
