The ideal embrace of about 500.000 people and much affection have characterized the 90th National gathering of the Alpine troops which ended in Piazza Vittoria with the flag-waving and the passage of the "stecca" from Treviso to Trento, where the event will take place next year.
To greet the 75.000 marching the Defense Minister, Senator Roberta Pinotti, the Chief of Defense Staff, General Claudio Graziano and the Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Danilo Errico along with many other civil authorities and military.
Important numbers, which once again testify to the great sense of belonging and the spirit of body that characterizes the Alpine troops.
"From operations to support international stability - Defense Minister commented - to support on the national territory in the "Safe Roads" Operation or in case of serious emergencies or natural disasters, such as the recent earthquake in central Italy or the subsequent snow emergency, the Alpine troops demonstrate every day a very high professional depth as well as generosity, self-denial , expertise and technical capacity.
Characteristics that are common to all the soldiers of the Army who every day with their silent work at the service of the country, testify and embody the sacrifice of millions of Italians who have given their lives on Grappa, on the Piave and in all the bitter battles fought by the Royal Army and its valiant Alpine battalions".
