In his hometown, the ceremony for the dedication of a street to lieutenant general commissioner Giuseppe Chirico was held.

The sober ceremony, in the presence of family members, saw the participation, among the highest authorities, of the central director of the central office of budget and financial affairs of the ministry of defense, Lieutenant General Giuseppe Fabbri (head of the army commissariat ) and the auxiliary lieutenant general. Corrado Lauretta - president of the national association of military commissariat.

Lieutenant General Chirico, a native of Reggio Calabria, boasts a very long and glorious military career, which sees him protagonist in the events that involved the armed force from the Italo-Turkish Campaign to the two world wars.

In his hometown he is also remembered for his intervention in the 1908, as an officer on duty at the 22 infantry regiment "Cremona", in the rescue operations for the Messina and Reggio Calabria earthquakes, deserving the commemorative medal and the special medal of bronze of merit.

The event was also attended by the highest military, civil and religious offices in the city of Reggio Calabria, as well as combat and weapons associations.
