The Defense Minister, Senator Roberta Pinotti, declared the 68 officially closed. edition of Ski Championships of the Alpine Troops, won by the 4 ° alpine paratroopers regiment, although the victory in the queen competition - the one among the platoons - went to the 8 ° Alpine regiment.
During his speech, Army Chief of Staff, General Danilo Errico, expressed his appreciation to all foreign teams and delegations from 15, several countries that joined the more than 1400 Army and other forces armed, thus contributing to consolidating the significance of this event.
A particular edition this year of the championships, characterized by the commitment of the Alpine troops for the Paralympic Winter Sports Federation, in favor of which 8.500 euros were collected during the event, donated today to the president of FISIP, Mrs. Tiziana Nasi, by the commander of the Alpine troops.
As General Bonato has repeatedly pointed out, the Paralympic one is a sports sector that also closely touches Defense personnel who, operating at home or outside national borders, have contracted injuries or disabling and permanent diseases in the fulfillment of their own must. Through the practice of sport, Paralympic athletes train to win not just a simple sporting challenge but the most important one against an adverse destiny that has tried to stop them.
The last official act of the day was the dedication of the Piazza del Mercato in Sestriere to the Alpine brigade Taurinense, considering both the deep historical and emotional connection between the citizens of Sestriere and the Alpine troops, as well as the excellent relations of collaboration between the Alpine unit and the municipality in support of innumerable national and international events.
