Commander Change at 2 ° Defense Forces Command

A few days ago, in the "Antonio Cavalleri" barracks in San Giorgio a Cremano (Na), the ceremony for the change of the commander of the 2nd Defense Forces Command (2nd FOD) was held, in the presence of the Commander of the Land Operational Forces, general of the army corps Alberto Primicerj.

The general of army corps Luigi Francesco De Leverano has replaced the general of division Antonio Vittiglio who however remains in the ranks of the 2 ° FOD under the command of the Division "Acqui".

At the ceremony there were regional civil and military authorities, the city of Naples and San Giorgio a Cremano, and the commanders of the dependent brigades ("Aosta", "Granatieri di Sardegna", "Pinerolo", "Sassari" and "Garibaldi") which contribute significantly to the operational tasks of the Italian Army throughout the national territory and abroad.

In his address, General Primicerj stressed the importance of the 2 ° FOD, within the Terrestrial Operative Forces, the most important command with the over 20.000 men and women employed by the five Brigades deployed in the Center-South Italy. In particular, the 2 ° FOD coordinates the work of about 3000 military engaged in the operation "Safe Roads" (half of the other 6000 engaged throughout the national territory), from Umbria to Lampedusa, to compete with the police forces for fight crime.

In Campania are 700 men and women lined up with the Police, of which 200 for the need of the so-called "Land of Fires" with the task of deterring and combating the abandonment and / or burning of waste.

General De Leverano returned to the ranks of the 2 ° FOD after commanding the "Sassari" Brigade, from July 2006 to July 2007, after having served in the office of the defense minister's office as deputy head of cabinet.
