Change at the top of the COMFOTER COE

It took place at the Tor di Quinto military hippodrome “Gen. ca Pietro Giannattasio", the change in command of the Terrestrial Operations e Army Operational Command (COMFOTER-COE) between Army Corps General Giovanni Maria Fungo, assignor, and Army Corps General Salvatore Camporeale, as successor.

The ceremony was presided over by the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, Army Corps General Pietro Serino who, after thanking the outgoing commander for what he has done for the Armed Forces in these 44 years of honorable service, stated that "The professionalism and efficiency demonstrated by the COMFOTER staff during the command of General Fungo were decisive in ensuring a prompt response to the country's needs, culminating in support for the institutions during the pandemic period and during local emergencies, up to the huge contribution given to the preparation and deployment of units in international missions, in particular to NATO with the strengthening of the eastern front of the Alliance. With his leadership, she was able to give substance to words, transforming them into actions".

In his speech, General Fungo wanted to underline how professionalism, example and the spirit of collaboration are the heritage of every soldier and the foundation of daily action, characteristics that he has always found in the men and women of the command and dependent departments. He took the opportunity to express his gratitude and esteem for the work done and the support shown over the years. He also wanted to reiterate the operational relevance of the Special Forces and Army Aviation.

In assuming command, General Camporeale said he was proud and ready to face the future challenges of the new COMFOTER which, in addition to the operational functions, will also have territorial ones. The senior officer will maintain the duties of military commander of the capital assumed a few days ago.
