In the "Gandin" barracks of Rome, headquarters of the brigade command Granaders of Sardinia and of the 1 ° regiment Granaders of Sardinia, today took place the commanding ceremony of the commander between Brigadier General Gaetano Lunardo, transferor, and the substitute Francesco Olla, successor.
The ceremony, chaired by the commander of the "Acqui" division, division general Antonio Vittiglio, was attended by the undersecretary of defense, the Hon. Domenico Rossi and the commander of the South Operating Forces, General of the Corps Francesco Luigi De Leverano in addition to the civil and military authorities of the city.
General Lunardo left office after almost two years of intense activity that saw the men and women of the Grenadiers engaged in the "Safe Roads" operation for order and public safety, in competition and jointly with the Police Forces, during the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, in Rome, in Lazio and in the neighboring regions of Umbria and Abruzzo; in demanding training activities; in exercises with opposing parties with other departments of the armed force, in the development of integrated systems for land training (SIAT); in activities of high institutional representation in favor of state ceremonial; in the earthquake emergency, in central Italy, where the departments of the Grenadiers they arrived first and in a timely manner in the areas hit by the earthquake to help dig through the rubble, set up appointments, distribute meals, medicines and bring aid even to the most inaccessible areas.
General Vittiglio, in his speech of greeting, stressed that the brigade Grenadiers it proved to be up to the tasks it received, confirming itself as a valuable resource for the armed force and for the whole country.
General Olla, from the Army Staff, will be the 104 commander of the brigade. To him the task of guiding the men and women of the Grenadiers in the future 2017 training and operational commitments.
