Today, the transformation of the North Military Region Command in Piedmont Army Military Command with the relative change of leadership: Colonel Fulvio Marangoni took the place of General Massimo Panizzi, who will be called to Bolzano from tomorrow. General Agostino Biancafarina, military commander of the capital, civil and military authorities attended the ceremony.
As we said, an important change because, thanks to the provision contained in the Legislative Decree 26 April 2016 n. 91, on 5 July the Territorial Command of Turin will lose its functions of Interregional Command and will have jurisdiction only in the Piedmont Region, passing under the control of the Alpine Troops Command of Bolzano which, in turn, will assume the functions of Interregional Command and will have the Army Military Commands of the Regions of Lombardy, Liguria, Trentino Alto Adige and the Office of Territorial and Presidential Affairs (ATP) of the Valle d'Aosta also depend. Colonel Marangoni thus became the first commander of the Piedmont Army Military Command.
An important moment of the ceremony was the minute of silence requested by General Panizzi to remember the victims of the attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh: "This tragedy reminds us who have chosen the Defense of the Fatherland and the Values it contains as our mission, to us who have felt strong, from a very young age, the vocation to defend the weakest, that we must always be ready. That we must always remain vigilant to defend what our grandparents have conquered at a high price ".
During his speech, the outgoing commander thanked the attendees, the representatives of the institutions and the friends and colleagues who accompanied him in these years of his Turin history, who greeted "not without a vein of sadness, a city and a wonderful land. Unique ".
To those who see the transformation desired by the Administration of the Regional Command, the general responded by affirming and recalling the key role played by the Territorial Commands, underlining how these "are crucial for the general functioning of the military instrument. true integration and synergies between military, institutions, communities and citizens ".
The incoming commander then took the floor and, after the customary greetings, clearly expressed his honorable commitment to "continue to interact and collaborate with all the civil and military institutions of the city and Piedmont for the good of the community. ".
In the general panorama of changes, at the conclusion of the interventions, General Biancafarina assured that "Turin remains a vital pivot in the military organization. Transit under the Alpine Troops Command means to characterize Turin even more, and Piedmont in general, like land Alpine in which the osmosis, the close link and the effective collaboration between the world of culture, civil and military institutions is very strong ".
