The work of the Italian Army bomb squad has been completed to neutralize a World War II aircraft bomb weighing 100 pounds in the historic center of Ferrara.

The device was located on the first floor of the former "San Benedetto" convent and was neutralized by Army personnel after cutting the body of the bomb and destroying the fuze on site. The operations, coordinated by the Prefect of Ferrara, concluded safely in the early afternoon and allowed the over 12.000 evacuated citizens to return to their homes.

The occasional clearance interventions of war ordnance found on the national territory are direct testimony to the Army's action for the protection and safety of citizens. The specialists of the 8th "Folgore" parachute engineer regiment of Legnago (VR), a unit of the "Folgore" parachute brigade, operated in close coordination with the command North Operating Forces of Padua and with the prefecture of Ferrara and the local authorities, adopting all safety procedures, aimed at neutralizing the device found in the city center of Ferrara, a 100-pound airplane bomb.
