The "Joint Eagle 14" inter-force drill kicks off

7 OCTOBER 2014 will start tomorrow, for two weeks, the Joint Eagle 2014 joint exercise, which will involve the Solbiate Olona Rapid Reaction Corps (NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy - NRDC) in two different locations, Lecce and Ferrara, respectively. ITA) and the Joint Force Air Component (JFAC) of the Air Force.

The Joint Eagle 14 exercise (JE 14), developed under the aegis of the Defense Staff and organized by the Operational Command of Vertice Interforze (COI), is the result of the integration of two distinct exercises: the Eagle Joker 14 for the 'NRDC ITA and Virtual Flag 14 for the military air force.

The aim is to maintain the necessary degree of efficiency and interoperability to operate in crisis scenarios, that is the ability to operate together also through the use of common technologies, command and control systems of the various armed forces at national level and international. The exercise conceived in this way responds to NATO's need to equip itself with standard training procedures and methodologies, common to all member countries of the Alliance and, in general, valid internationally.

The NRDC-ITA command, the unit based in Solbiate Olona (VA) has deployed since the end of September at the training area of ​​Torre Veneri (LE) and Brindisi, to obtain the national certification to independently manage naval and air forces in operations and to be able to interact effectively with non-military actors present in crisis areas. This objective will serve as a premise for NATO certification as a joint command and multinational Joint Task Force (JTF) projectable in crisis contexts expected in 2015.

While the JFAC will be engaged by the Poggio Renatico air base (FE) in the main exercise of digital simulation of command and control of air operations and will instead consolidate the results obtained in the previous exercises in order to create an adequate number of professional resources in view of the NATO certification of the 2015. That is, that military capability that enables all aspects of an air campaign to be planned, coordinated and controlled - and then declared as a "designated" JFAC command for the NATO Response Force (NRF) in the 2016.
