04/06/14

The A129 "Mangusta" helicopters of the army aviation have crossed the threshold of 10.000 flight hours made in the skies of Afghanistan since, in the spring of 2007, they were deployed to Herat as part of the ISAF mission (International Security Assistance Force).

The important milestone was celebrated at the military airport of Herat by all the blue berets of the "Fenice" Task Force, the rotary wing component based on 7 ° Regiment AV.ES. "Vega" of Rimini under the orders of pilot colonel Giuseppe Potenza.

The "Mangusta" are particularly reliable and versatile exploration and escort helicopters, are equipped with the most advanced on-board systems and thanks to the high professionalism and experience gained by the pilots, often called to operate in critical situations and in sometimes prohibitive climatic conditions, they they have proved to be an indispensable tool for conducting operations to support the land units of the coalition and the Afghan security forces.

Each intervention of the “Mangusta” helicopters was characterized by a success rate equal to 100%, a particularly significant result that was achieved thanks to the professionalism of the technical personnel in charge of aircraft maintenance.
