The closing ceremony of the 2022/2023 academic year was held in the Courtyard of Honor of the Military Academy. The event was presided over by the commander, division general Davide Scalabrin who, after the awarding of the students who distinguished themselves in military studies and disciplines, drew up a balance sheet of the concluded year, characterized by transformations and innovations, thanking those who made it possible to achieve of excellent results.
To the attending officers and students of the 203rd "Loyalty" course and the 204th "Will" course, General Scalabrin expressed his satisfaction, underlining that "Today's ceremony has always represented the greeting of the senior course to the city of Modena, after two years of commitment and sacrifice, today it is transformed into the presentation as the next officers who, from the month of September, will resume the training course, for a further year at the Military Academy, always up to the new and demanding challenges that the future holds".
The new training course launched with the students of the 203rd "Loyalty" course who - with the exception of the next lieutenants of the Carabinieri who are about to leave Modena to continue their training at the Rome headquarters - provides for the permanence of the cadet officers of the Army in Modena for a further year at the Military Academy, for a total period of three years - including the first two years as students with the aim of obtaining a three-year degree at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in the various fields of study. With this latest transformation, the city of Modena will see the constant presence of around 700 cadets, engaged in attending the various three-year and single-cycle degree courses in Strategic Sciences, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Surgery and Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology.
The greater number of visitors required a vast process of transformation and adaptation of the existing infrastructures, which concentrated both on the infrastructural complex of "Palazzo Ducale", identified as a university center with new classrooms and laboratories, and on the "Pisacane" barracks, which housing pole.
As a final act of the academic two-year period, the chosen regimental chief presented the commander of the Military Academy with the pennant of the 203rd "Loyalty" course, which will be kept in the room of the historical museum dedicated to the custody of the memories of the academic courses to underline how the conclusion of the two-year academic year marks, in a marked and clear way, the beginning of that complex path that every officer will be called to follow in order to be able to achieve, in an optimal way, the set objectives and be able to face all the new challenges in which the Army will be called upon to operate.
Among the civil and military authorities also present was the mayor of the city of Modena, Dr. Gian Carlo Muzzarelli, who addressed the 203rd course, confirming the affection and closeness of the citizens of Modena to the Military Academy and to entire generations of officers.
