(L'Aquila) The Cittadella degli Alpini was officially opened to the public today, the space inside the Castle Park that the Alpine Army Troops have set up to present the latest vehicles, weapons and equipment to the public of the Gathering. generation.

After the flag-raising ceremony - which was attended by hundreds of people and many children - General Federico Bonato, commander of the Alpine troops, cut the inaugural ribbon together with the president of the National Alpine Association Sebastiano Favero and Massimo Cialente, mayor of the city of Abruzzo.

Thousands of visitors populated the Citadel's stands on the opening day, dedicated to the various specialties of the Alpine Troops and illustrated by young soldiers from the Julia and Taurinense brigades and the Alpine Training Center.

Particularly visited - besides the area dedicated to alpine sports - the stands of the genius, with the simulation of the reclamation of a minefield, the exposure of the armored Lince and the reproduction of an outpost of the 9 ° Alpine regiment in Afghanistan.

The commemoration of the centenary of the Great War has attracted many people to the area of ​​the Museo degli Alpini in Trento, where an original exhibition on high altitude battles is proposed.

In fact, an important space will be dedicated to the mission in Afghanistan, with the detailed reproduction of an outpost that will allow visitors to get to know the daily reality of Italian soldiers operating in the Asian country.

Passionate and curious, they can board the very modern Lince and Centauro armored cars (made in Italy realizations) as well as the BV206 snow tracks, take up the Beretta ARX rifle recently adopted by the Army, observe the Thomson mortar targeting maneuvers by 120 supplied to the infantry and artillery and try the radio equipment that will link the Acquunata Adunata with the whole world, thanks to the collaboration with the Amateur Radio Association.

Also this year the Alpine paratroopers will stage the release of a hostage, an experience that will be proposed to those who want to try a strong experience. Together with Alpine engineers, it will be possible to clean up a minefield (rigorously simulated) and get to know closely the techniques used to defuse the hundreds of war residuals that every year the Army is called to neutralize throughout Italy. Also in the area of ​​genius will be presented the European mission in the Central African Republic, recently successfully concluded thanks to the Italian contribution. The Army aviation - which collaborates systematically with the Alpine Troops in operation and in the exercise - will be present with its own stand where high-tech materials will be exhibited.

At the center of the Citadel an Info-Point will also be available where those who aspire to the military career in the Army can receive from a specialized team all information on recruitment.

The youngest will focus on the mountain-centered area, managed by the Alpine Training Center of Aosta together with the National Alpine Association, where they will find a climbing wall, a Tibetan bridge and an artificial cross-country ski run at the disposal of children and boys with the supervision of ski and mountaineering instructors. Also on the mountain theme, the METEOMONT meteorological service tent will not fail, which thanks to daily surveys throughout the Alps provides daily predictions on avalanche risk, in collaboration with the State Forestry Corps and the Italian Air Force.

The 88 ^ Adunata coincides with the centenary of the Italian entrance in the Great War: for the occasion, the National Alpine Museum of Trento has prepared an original photographic exhibition on battles that have seen alpine and foot soldiers fighting in altitude in the '15- '18, in addition to exhibiting a rich selection of memorabilia that will recall the history of the Corps, founded in 1872. Still on the theme of 100 anniversary will be an island where the historical group 'Militaria' will set up a space in which the atmosphere of an Italian trench of the 1 World War II will be faithfully reproduced, thanks to figures in vintage uniforms that will present to the public a series of scenes of military life a century ago.

Relief to the population affected by the earthquake of the 2009 - and more generally all the interventions of the Alpine in arms and on leave to save and rebuild - will be the subject of a photo exhibition organized at the Citadel by the National Alpine Association in collaboration with the Alpine Troops . Entitled 'The Alpines are always there', the archive images gallery will testify the solidarity of black pens in Italy and abroad: Vajont, Friuli, Irpinia, Abruzzo, Liguria but also Afghanistan and Central Africa, always on the front line where need.

The battalion L'Aquila of the 9 ° regiment - stationed in the small town of Abruzzo - will be dedicated a special space, with the exhibition of photographs, objects and memorabilia that tell the past and recent history of one of the most decorated alpine units of the Army. Two Alpine 9 ° will present in the Cittadella the series of shots they made in the historic center of L'Aquila five years after the earthquake: the exhibition is titled 'Works in progress' and is the tribute of two black pens to the the city that hosts the regiment from the 1975 and this year, for the first time, the National Assembly.
