8th doctrinal conference of the Italian Army

The8th doctrinal conference of the Italian Army, organized and chaired by the command for specialization and doctrine training of the Army.

The event, which took place from 14 to 16 November, saw the participation, in presence and online, of the entire doctrinal community of the Army: 140 representatives belonging to the high commands, bodies and departments of the Armed Forces.

The conference, in addition to constituting an important moment of reflection and discussion as well as a precious opportunity for professional growth, represented the opportunity to examine the doctrinal corpus and update the development program, present the situation on the capacitive development of Remotely piloted aircraft (APR) mini and micro in the Army context, deepen the concept of "Non-contact Operations", identify any gaps and communicate the doctrinal theme, which will define the main reference for planning next year's training activities.

The conference was chaired by the commander of the Army's training, specialization and doctrine, Lieutenant General Carlo Lamanna.

The Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Pietro Serino, in expressing his satisfaction with the organization of the conference, underlined: “We must regain, also on the basis of what is happening in the world, full awareness of the centrality of the operations conducted by the terrestrial component in the context of modern military operations which are fought "also" in cyber space."

General Serino, within the IMINT capability, also highlighted the need to write a doctrine that sees widespread use of all sensors that acquire information through images to define the coordination methods.

“We must be able not only to change the procedures of use but also those with which the regulations are made because our ability to adapt the technical-tactical procedures must go hand in hand with the evolution of the tools we use", the Army Chief of Staff then finished.​
