(To Army Majority State)
29/04/16

Yesterday, in the "Vannucci" barracks, the Body party of the 187th parachute regiment on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the first war launch carried out by the Italian Army paratroopers.

It was April 30, 1941, when, in the midst of the Second World War, 72 paratroopers took off on the Greek island of Kefalonia as part of a complex operation aimed at countering the then enemy forces.

Every year, the paratroopers of the 187th regiment remember that historic date, celebrating the value of those who preceded them, but above all the love of country, honored with the response to that call that prompted them to fulfill their duty.

The ceremony was attended by the commander of the parachute brigade thunderbolt, Brigadier General Giovanni Maria Iannucci, civil, religious and military authorities and many former members who served in the ranks of the 187th regiment.

The presence of students from some city schools was the setting for the ceremony, which ended with a visit to a static exhibition of the main means and materials in use.

Wonderful opportunity to bring the numerous guests closer to the reality of today's paratroopers actively engaged in national and foreign territory.
