During the sober but heartfelt ceremony, General Andriella recalled the deeds of the men belonging to the most daring of the genius's specialties, highlighting the value that has always characterized the sappers of yesterday and today in the fulfillment of duty up to the exaltation of ideals of liberty and of country: "we are moved by the fallen and their families aware that their sacrifice is always an example for all of us".
The regimental commander, Colonel Domenico D'Ortenzi, in thanking the defendants for the affection and the esteem shown, wanted to underline how the commitment and the constancy of the rallyers contributes in a decisive way to keep unchanged the body spirit of the association and strengthen the already strong bond between on-duty and retired staff.
