On the spot a specialized team of the 4 ° Regio Genio Guastatori of Palermo has intervened that is employed by the "Aosta" Brigade of Messina; the spoons that have come into action have a special EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) specialization, but are more commonly referred to as bombs.
The artifact has been identified by the military as an Italian Brixia mortar bomb by 45 mm mod. 35, the bomb was found in a poor state of conservation, which is why, being unable to move, was destroyed in the same place of discovery. The bomb had been found a few days before by a tourist who traveled along a naturalistic path of the island that leads to the lake of Venus.
Since the beginning of the year the specialists of the Army of the 4 ° Regio Genio Guastatori of Palermo have already completed 3 reclamation interventions in the Sicilian territory, with the relative disengaging or destruction of the devices found. The Army is the only Armed Force responsible for the training of bombers of all the police, armed forces and armed forces of the state.
