356 ° anniversary of the Granatieri di Sardegna

21/04/15

Last weekend, three events marked the 356 anniversary of the specialty of the "Grenadiers of Sardinia".

On 17 April, at the “Gandin” barracks, the 1st Rgt. Grenadiers and the Command Department conducted a formal education essay. In this event, the military personality acquired "mathematical value", becoming part of a "celebratory game" in which every single soldier had a precise and indispensable role within the formation and the Grenadiers - remarked the commander of the brigade, general Maurizio Riccò - also in this context "have proved to be more special than specialties, that is, capable of knowing how to do everything and being ready to best perform any task assigned, both nationally and internationally". The figures that have followed have represented the essence of the Grenadiers starting from the stars, up to the "white frogs".

On April 18, at the Historical Museum of the Grenadiers, in the presence of the Undersecretary of Defense, the Hon. Domenico Rossi, a sober ceremony was held for the inauguration of the relocation of the mosaic "Il Granatiere", a work of art designed and built in 1937 by the second lieutenant Grenadier Lino Lipinsky de Orlov which depicts a Grenadier in the act typical of throwing a grenade. After hearing the participation of the participants and of the whole National Association "Grenadiers of Sardinia" (ANGS) whose National Presidency, led by the army corps general in the reserve Mario Buscemi, promoted the initiative.

On Sunday 19 April, at the "Ruffo" barracks, headquarters of the Command and Tactical Support Department of the "Grenadiers of Sardinia" Brigade Command, the meeting of the 2nd "Cengio" Battalion took place. About 100 grenadiers on leave from all over Italy to relive a day of naja.

Three different moments from each other, which summarize in a minimum common denominator the discipline, history and traditions of the oldest infantry specialty in Europe. Everything becomes unique, because the Grenadiers, united, have gone beyond every time and every place and with renewed impetus face the new national and international commitments, such as the command of the West Sector of the UNIFIL mission in South Lebanon as part of the operation "LEONTE XV" and that of the "Lazio, Umbria and Abruzzo" grouping for the "Safe Roads" operation.
